I had wanted to call this “Never Trust a Young God" but it was a bit of a long and clumsy title. Sentinel’s patience is running out. All we have to do is elect 25 good honest men, to form a council to run the planet.
This is how Atlantis has been run for millennia. In reflection of their belief that the number XXV is “sacred”
The power hungry human politicians cannot reach an agreement and time is running out.
Young God is full of anger and discord. It is great fun to play and we get a chance to let Colin loose on his double bass drum frenzy! This is turning into a great live track.
You don’t have to be the holder of a Boy Scout Observer badge to pick out the “all world now join hands as one” guitar riff from Atlantis.
Some vocal aerobics required here. We have done this song live a few times now and it has changed very little and certainly not in its intention, to remind us of our own stupidity and perhaps our mortality.
A little chilling and a lot heavy with the only respite coming from a burst of the unusual in the shape of brief keyboard arpeggio from Ron .
Colin describes this track as ugly and that’s what it was meant to be.
For anybody in the know, there is homage to a fantastic Austrian band….
Heavy as f*ck. Again, a lot of double kicks in the verses, moving into a syncopated pushed part, again using a staccato double Bass drum part, with some Fripp-esque guitar from Niall.
Moves into a 3 / 4 “Sabbath” feel. Really heavy with some great counterpoint vocals between GBM and Paul. Very powerful.
Then a return to the DK verses but with an arpeggio solo from Ron into the staccato, discordant, “Frippish” section, through to the ugly end….
Nicely balanced – everything perfectly in its place. A treat from beginning to end.
I listen to your weasel words
At times you’re sounding quite absurd
Humanity, compassionate deeds
Slave to all your peoples needs
We’ve watched your progress throughout time
We sent so many warning signs
You were the children of the gods
But you have failed us against all odds
There will be no more romances,
There will be no second chances
I will hear no plea of mitigation
I will destroy you nation by nation
You were to be special you were chosen
Now here you are this world is broken
Planet earth was to be eden
But now this world is sick and bleeding
I condemn your arrogance
I blame your procrastination
The Twenty Five are now in place
End of negotiation
